Welcome to The Purple Onion

A warm reception waiting for you at our Art gallery, Restaurant and Bar, The Purple Onion is situated in the middle of Ireland in Tarmonbarry, Co. Roscommon on the N5 between Longford and Strokestown, nestled on the banks of the River Shannon. Our bar serves food seven days a week and the gallery can be opened at any time to view the art. We encourage a relaxed atmosphere in both the bar and the art gallery, so if you just fancy a pint and a chat or a fine meal in good surroundings or even wish to view a painting by one of Irelands best artists, come in, sit down and relax.

About Us

Pauline Roe is from Monaghan and is a graduate of Cathal Bruagh street college and has won numerous awards for her cooking. Pauline can be seen most nights in the bar flying around doing almost everything.

Paul Dempsey is from Newbridge Co. Kildare and has bluffed his way through practically everything. He can be seen most nights in the bar sitting on a stool admiring Pauline flying around doing almost everything.
